About NetZero DSL

    What is NetZero DSL?

NetZero DSL is a new service featuring broadband access to the Internet at speeds faster than conventional dial-up. DSL is an “always on” service, meaning you don’t have to use the software to dial-in to connect — just open your web browser and surf!

NetZero DSL service comes bundled with:

Norton Antivirus Online to protect you from threats and viruses

MegaMail with built-in Spam and Email Virus protection

Travel Pack providing you with 10 hours FREE dial-up service per month

Your NetZero DSL service also comes with a 30-day money back guarantee* and free technical support.

To find out if your phone number qualifies for NetZero DSL service, please call 1-800-NetZero.

What is the difference between DSL and cable broadband?

While both DSL and cable provide fast Internet connections, the difference is in how the service is provided. As the name says, a cable Internet connection is just like cable TV. If you don’t already have a cable connection you will need to have a technician come to your home and install the cable. This could be a challenge, especially for residents of apartments who might need special permission from the landlord before getting connected.

On the other hand, DSL service comes via your existing phone line, and normally does not require any new connections, phone jacks, or visits from a technician. Just plug in your DSL modem, phone filters and you are ready to go!

What are the benefits of NetZero DSL?

The first thing you’ll notice about NetZero DSL is the speed. You’ll be able to download files in a fraction of the time of dial-up, and web pages and email load almost instantly.

    But there’s more than speed.

–No more dial-up connection issues: You won’t have to deal with busy signals, slow connection, dropped connections, or needing to try different access numbers to connect to the Internet

–Surf the web without tying up your phone line: DSL allows you to connect to the Internet and make regular phone calls at the same time, meaning the same line can download a video while you talk to your friend about it.

–Always-on connection: DSL is “always on” so you are connected from the moment you turn on your computer, without starting special software or waiting while your modem connects. You can surf as soon as your computer boots up.

    How fast is NetZero DSL?

NetZero DSL has connection speeds up to 100X faster than standard dial-up*, meaning web pages load quickly, emails with large attachments are no problem, and even large video or music files download in minutes.

How does NetZero DSL compare to “high speed” dial-up services?

Accelerated or high-speed dial-up services use compression technology to help speed Web page loading and increase your surfing by up to 5X, but they can’t make downloading files any faster, and reduce image quality on Web pages to increase their speed.

Can I use NetZero DSL on multiple computers? Can I set up a network?

Once you have signed up with NetZero DSL you have the option of setting up a home network, sharing the connection with other computers in your home.

At this time NetZero does not offer the necessary equipment for networking, but we do offer basic support for members who are interested in creating a home network.

If I discontinue the NetZero DSL service, can I keep the NetZero DSL modem?

Yes, if you’ve been a member in good standing for more than a month you may keep your DSL modem. However, if you cancel your service before the end of your commitment you will be charged a cancellation fee based on your plan. If, however, you cancel within the first thirty days and seek to utilize the money back guarantee, you can not keep the DSL modem and must return it to NetZero.

To determine the cancellation fee you would incur based on your NetZero DSL plan:

    1. Click on the My Account tab on the NetZero DSL Web site or visit http://account.netzero.net/s/account.
