What are the features of Norton AntiSpam?

Note: For Norton 2013 product information please click here

Norton AntiSpam will help you filter out unwanted email and thus making your online communications safer and more enjoyable. The automatic identification of spam will make it easy for you to block messages you don't want, without interfering with your legitimate email. Norton AntiSpam can also flag messages that have offensive content and block intrusive online ads.

Norton AntiSpam features include:

Client Integration -
This feature lists the supported email programs and their associated address books installed on your computer. Use Client Integration to allow Norton AntiSpam to work in all of your supported email programs.

AutoBlock -
This feature lets you define the types of email that Norton AntiSpam should always block. Use AutoBlock to block messages that contain remote or local images, invisible text, HTML forms, obscured or disguised Web links, scripts, ActiveX objects, or Java applets. Keep all the AutoBlock options checked to automatically block phishing and dangerous email messages. If you do not configure AutoBlock, your email program is vulnerable to spam.

Allowed List -
This feature lets you add specific addresses and domains (for example, @domain.com) from which you want to receive email messages. Always add all your known email addresses and domains to the Allowed List. This option prevents you from losing important email messages from your known contacts.

Blocked List -
This feature lets you add specific addresses and domains from which you do not want to receive email messages. Norton AntiSpam marks all email messages from these addresses or domains as spam. Always add unknown email addresses and domains to the Blocked List, so that you do not receive unsolicited email messages from such addresses or domains.

Address Book Exclusions -
This feature lets you exclude specific email addresses currently in your address book from being imported into the Norton AntiSpam Allowed List. This option is helpful for old, unknown, or other email addresses that may have been added to your address book without your knowledge over time.

My Addresses -
This feature lets you specify all your personal email addresses to prevent spammers from using them to send you spam.

Custom Spam Rules -
This feature lets you customize your protection by identifying specific text that should or should not be filtered. When Norton AntiSpam encounters a message that contains one of these text strings, it immediately categorizes the messages based on these settings. In case of conflicting rules, messages are processed in the order in which they appear in this list. Always put your most important rules at the top of the list.
