Howdo I dial out of a hotel room? BlueLight Internet Service can be accessed nationwide. The Internetis accessible from most hotel rooms provided that the software isinstalled on the computer you are using while traveling. Many hotelsrequire guests to dial a specific digit, such as 9, to get anoutside line.
If you need to install the software on the computer you wish touse, the software can be downloaded from the BlueLight Internet Service websiteprior to traveling and fits on three floppy disks. Registered usersclick here to download a copy of the software. - Start the BlueLight Internet Service bydouble-clicking the BlueLight Internet Service icon on the desktop of yourcomputer or by selecting BlueLight Internet Service from the Start menu.
- Click the down arrow next to the field labeled Connect From and select "Create New Location". Press the Create button.
- A window named "Create New Location" will appear on your desktop split into three steps. In Step 1 type in the new location name, (such as 'Hotel') and type in the area code you will be dialing in from. As an example, say that you will be staying in a hotel in New York, and the phone number for the hotel has a 212 area code. In that case, you would type in 212 as the dialing area code.
- In Step 2, to gain access to an outside line from the hotel, enter a “9” or another number. Check with the hotel operator to get specific dialing instructions for the hotel. Please select if your modem should use touch-tones or rotary dialing (pulse) to connect to the local access numbers.
- In Step 3, you will choose your access numbers for the new location. Continuing our example, we put 212 in the Area Code box to view available numbers in the 212 area code. If there are numbers available in that supplied area code, an alphabetical list of cities with available numbers will display. Left click on the [+] box next to the city to view the individual numbers in that city, then left click on individual numbers and press Add. You are solely responsible for determining if use of a particular access number will cause you to incur long-distance, toll, or other charges. We are not responsible for any long-distance, toll, or other telecommunications charges you incur. Depending on your particular location, the access number you use may not be a local phone call (even though it may be in the same area code or city as your phone number). We advise you to check with your local phone company to verify whether any access number you are using or intend to use requires a local call and whether any communication charges may apply. The hotel may also charge you additional fees to access an outside line.
- Once you have completed this task, press Next and follow the instructions on the confirmation window.
