Activating Your Phone

Now that your new NetZero account has been created, you need to activate your phone. Select the model of your phone from the list below and complete the activation steps.

Note: Since your phone may have been used with a different service provider, activating your phone is an essential step to make sure your phone will work properly in the NetZero network.

 

Activate your ZTE Device

The following steps are intending for the majority of ZTE devices running Android software.

In some case simply starting or re-starting your phone will activate your phone service. If you are able to make calls, then no further action is needed. If you are unable to make calls, please start with Step 1.

Step1: Profile Update

  1. Disable Wi-Fi
  2. Go To "Settings"
  3. Touch "System Update" or "About Phone" or "More" tab on the top-right of screen
  4. Touch "Update Profile".
  5. Touch "OK", if prompted. The device will restart when complete
  6. If this does not work go to Step 2

Step 2: PRL Update

  1. Disable Wi-Fi
  2. Go To "Settings"
  3. Touch "System updates" or "About Phone" or "More" tab on the top-right of screen
  4. Touch "Update PRL". Wait for the PRL update to complete, then touch "OK". Your device may restart after the PRL update. If not, please restart your device.
  5. Once your device restarts, 3G/LTE data, voice, and text messaging should be enabled.
  6. If this does not work go to Step 3

If the above steps still did not activate your device, then a carrier wipe will be required. In some cases, completing a carrier wipe will erase everything on your phone, so it is important to backup and save all important information on your phone. It is also highly recommended that you remove the memory card from your phone during the carrier wipe to avoid deleting any content stored on the card.

Step 3: Carrier Wipe

  1. Disable Wi-Fi
  2. Go to dial pad as though you're about to dial a phone number
  3. Dial # # 72786 #
  4. Enter your Master Subsidy Lock (MSL)* if prompted or it may be referred to as Password
  5. Touch "OK", phone will restart
  6. Continue with Step1: Profile Update and Step2: PRL Update mentioned above

Activate your Samsung Device

The following steps are intending for the majority of Samsung devices running Android software.

In some case simply starting or re-starting your phone will activate your phone service. If you are able to make calls, then no further action is needed. If you are unable to make calls, please start with Step 1.

  1. Disable Wi-Fi
  2. Go To "Settings"
  3. Touch "System Update" or "About Phone" or "More" tab on the top-right of screen
  4. Touch "Update Profile"
  5. Touch "OK", if prompted. The device will restart when complete
  6. If this does not work go to Step 2

Step2: PRL Update

  1. Disable Wi-Fi
  2. Go To "Settings"
  3. Touch "System updates" or "About Phone" or "More" tab on the top-right of screen
  4. Touch "Update PRL". Wait for the PRL update to complete, then touch "OK". Your device may restart after the PRL update. If not, please restart your device.
  5. Once your device restarts, 3G/LTE data, voice, and text messaging should be enabled.
  6. If this does not work go to Step 3

Activate your HTC Device

The following steps are intending for the majority of HTC devices running Android software.

In some case simply starting or re-starting your phone will activate your phone service. If you are able to make calls, then no further action is needed. If you are unable to make calls, please start with Step 1.

Step 1: Profile Update

  1. Disable Wi-Fi
  2. Go To "Settings"
  3. Touch "System updates" or "About Phone" or "More" tab on the top-right of screen
  4. Touch "Update Profile"
  5. Touch "OK", if prompted. The device will restart when complete
  6. If this does not work go to Step 2

Step 2: PRL Update

  1. Disable Wi-Fi
  2. Go To "Settings"
  3. Touch "System updates" or "About Phone" or "More" tab on the top-right of screen
  4. such as "Other" or "About phone")
  5. Touch "Update PRL". Wait for the PRL update to complete, then touch "OK"
  6. If your device does not restart after the PRL update, restart it
  7. Once your device restarts, 3G/LTE data, voice, and text messaging should be enabled.
  8. If this does not work go to Step 3

  5. Press the "MENU" key or the MENU icon on the top right of the screen
  6. Select "Reset", phone will restart
  7. Continue with Step1: Profile Update and Step2: PRL Update mentioned above

Activate your Motorola Device

The following steps are intending for the majority of Motorola devices running Android software.

In some case simply starting or re-starting your phone will activate your phone service. If you are able to make calls, then no further action is needed. If you are unable to make calls, please start with Step 1.

Step 1: Profile Update

  1. Disable Wi-Fi
  2. Go To "Settings"
  3. Touch "System updates" (you may have to go to "About phone" first on some devices)
  4. Touch "Update Profile"
  5. Touch "OK", if prompted. The device will restart when complete
  6. If this does not work go to Step 2

Step 2: PRL Update

  1. Disable Wi-Fi
  2. Go To "Settings"
  3. Touch "System updates" (you may have to go to "About phone" first on some devices)
  4. Touch "Update PRL"
  5. Wait for the PRL update to complete, then touch "OK"
  6. If your device does not restart after the PRL update, restart it
  7. Once your device restarts, 3G/LTE data, voice, and text messaging should be enabled.
  8. If this does not work go to Step 3

Activate your LG Device

The following steps are intending for the majority of LG devices running Android software.

In some case simply starting or re-starting your phone will activate your phone service. If you are able to make calls, then no further action is needed. If you are unable to make calls, please start with Step 1.

Step 1: Profile Update

  1. Disable Wi-Fi
  2. Go To "Settings"
  3. Touch "System updates" or "Other" or "About phone"
  4. Touch "Update Profile"
  5. Touch "OK", if prompted. The device will restart when complete
  6. If this does not work go to Step 2

Step 2: PRL Update

  1. Disable Wi-Fi
  2. Go To "Settings"
  3. Touch "System updates" or "Other" or "About phone"
  4. Touch "Update PRL". Wait for the PRL update to complete, then touch "OK"
  5. If your device does not restart after the PRL update, restart it
  6. If this does not work go to Step 3

Once your device restarts, 3G/LTE data, voice, and text messaging should be enabled.

Activate your Nexus Device

The following steps are intending for the majority of Nexus devices running Android software.

In some case simply starting or re-starting your phone will activate your phone service. If you are able to make calls, then no further action is needed. If you are unable to make calls, please start with Step 1.

Step 1: Profile Update

  1. Disable Wi-Fi
  2. Go To "Settings"
  3. Touch "About Phone" or "About Phone" or "More"
  4. Touch "Sprint system updates" or "Cellular Networks and touch Carrier settings"
  5. Touch "Update Profile"
  6. Touch "OK", if prompted. The device will restart when complete
  7. If this does not work go to Step 2

Step 2: PRL Update

  1. Disable Wi-Fi
  2. Touch the "Application" icon
  3. Touch "Settings"
  4. Touch "About Phone" or "About Phone" or "More"
  5. Touch "Sprint system updates" or "Cellular Networks and touch Carrier settings"
  6. Touch "Update PRL". Wait for the PRL update to complete, then touch "OK". Your device may restart after the PRL update. If not, please restart your device.
  7. Once your device restarts, 3G/LTE data, voice, and text messaging should be enabled.
  8. If this does not work go to Step 3

Activate your Kyocera Device

The following steps are intending for the majority of Kyocera devices running Android software.

In some case simply starting or re-starting your phone will activate your phone service. If you are able to make calls, then no further action is needed. If you are unable to make calls, please start with Step 1.

Step 1: Profile Update

  1. Disable Wi-Fi
  2. Go To "Settings"
  3. Touch "System Update" or "About Phone" or "More"
  4. Touch "Update Profile"
  5. Touch "OK", if prompted. The device will restart when complete
  6. If this does not work go to Step 2

Step 2: PRL Update

  1. Disable Wi-Fi
  2. Go To "Settings"
  3. Touch "System updates" or "About Phone" or "More"
  4. Touch "Update PRL". Wait for the PRL update to complete, then touch "OK". Your device may restart after the PRL update. If not, please restart your device.
  5. Once your device restarts, 3G/LTE data, voice, and text messaging should be enabled.
  6. If this does not work go to Step 3

Activate your iPhone

The following steps are intending for the majority of iPhone devices running Android software.

In some case simply starting or re-starting your phone will activate your phone service. If you are able to make calls, then no further action is needed. If you are unable to make calls, please start with Step 1.

Step 1: Carrier Reset

  1. Go to dial pad as though you're about to dial a phone number
  2. Enter # # 25327 #
  3. Tap Call
  4. A "Reset Subscriber Settings" message will appear - tap OK
  5. Wait about 10 seconds, the signal notification will display "Searching…" on the top left of the screen
  6. When the phone shows a signal again, the phone is ready to use
  7. If this does not work got to Step 2

Step 2: Profile & PRL Update

  1. Connect to a Wi-Fi network
  2. Go to dial pad as though you're about to dial a phone number
  3. Dial # # 873283 #
  4. Tap Call
  5. "Starting Service Update" message will appear - tap OK
  6. If update is successful "Service Update Complete" message will appear after about a minute - tap OK
  7. If this does not work then you will have to reset you phone, go to Step 3

Step 3: Factory Reset

If the above steps did not activate your device, then a Factory Reset will be required. Doing a Factory Reset will erase everything on your phone back to factory new. It is important to backup and save all important information from your phone.

  1. Go to "Settings"
  2. Tap "General"
  3. Tap "Reset"
  4. Tap "Erase All Content and Settings"
  5. Enter your passcode if prompted
  6. Tap "Erase iPhone"
  7. Tap "Erase iPhone"

The phone will reboot and you will be prompted to set up your phone again, which you can do as a new device or restore it from a previous backup in iTunes or iCloud
