Email Manual Configuration
- Open Windows Live Mail and click on Add e-mail account near the bottom of the left window.
- Type your NetZero email address, password, and name you’d like displayed in your emails in the boxes. Check the Remember password box to not have to enter your password every time you check mail.
- Check the box next to Manually configure settings for e-mail account then click Next.
- Make sure POP3 is selected as your incoming mail server (do not use IMAP or HTTP).
- Type: pop.netzero.com as your incoming server, check the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL) and make sure that 995 is in the Port box.
- Type: smtp.netzero.com as your outgoing server, check the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL), and make sure that 465 is in the Port box.
- Check the box next to Requires authentication, then click Next to finish.
- Open Windows Mail, click on Tools and select Accounts.
- Click Add, double-click on Email Account, then click Next.
- Follow the onscreen instructions. When asked to provide your account name and password, use your NetZero ID and password.
When asked to provide the POP and SMTP settings, use:
POP: pop.netzero.com
SMTP: smtp.netzero.com
Important: Be sure to check the box next to Outgoing server requires authentication. - Type in your NetZero ID and password in the correct boxes and click Next.
(Note: If you check Remember password you won’t have to provide it every time you check mail) - Make sure to check the box next to Do not download my email folders at this time. Click Finish when done.
- Select your new account from the list, and click the Properties button.
- Click on the Advanced tab.
- Check the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL) for both Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3).
- Change the POP port number to 995 and the SMTP port number to 465.
- Be sure to check the box next to Leave a copy of messages on server.
- Click OK to finish.
- Start Outlook, click on Tools, and select E-Mail Accounts...
- Select Add new e-mail account then click the Next button.
- Select POP3 from the list and click the Next button.
- Type your information into the boxes.
The User Name box should be the name you want to appear on your emails.
Your Logon Information should contain your NetZero Member ID and password (check the box next to Remember password).
Type: pop.netzero.com in the Incoming Mail Server (POP) box.
Type: smtp.netzero.com in the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) box.
Click the More Settings button when finished entering the information. - Click on the Outgoing Server tab and place a check in the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
- Select Use the same settings as my incoming server.
- Click on the Advanced tab and place a check in the boxes next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) under both the POP and SMTP sections.
- Change the POP port number to 995 and the SMTP port number to 465.
- Place a check in the box next to Leave a copy of messages on the server and click the OK button.
- Click the Next button to finish setting up your NetZero email account.
- Start Outlook Express, click on Tools, and select Accounts...
- Click the Add button and select Mail… from the list.
- Type the name you want to appear on your emails in the Display name box, then click the Next button.
- Type your full NetZero email address in the box and click the Next button.
- Select POP3 from the dropdown menu
- Type: pop.netzero.com in the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, HTTP) server box.
- Type: smtp.netzero.com in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box.
- Click the Next button.
- Type your NetZero Member ID in the Account name box (do not include “@netzero.com”), and type your NetZero password in the Password box.
- Check the box next to Remember password then click Next.
- Click the Finish button to add your NetZero account.
- Highlight your NetZero account from the list, then click on the Properties button.
- Click the Advanced tab and place a check in the boxes next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL) beneath both the POP and SMTP sections.
- Change the POP port number to 995 and the SMTP port number to 465.
- Place a check in the box next to Leave a copy of messages on server, then click the Apply button.
- Click OK to close the Properties box, then click Close to finish configuring your NetZero email account.
- Start Thunderbird, click on Tools, and select Account Settings.
- Click on Email Account, then click Next.
- Type your name and NetZero email address in the boxes.
- Select POP as your incoming mail server (do not choose IMAP or HTTP). Type: pop.netzero.com as your incoming mail server, type 995 for the Port and then click Next.
- Type your NetZero email address as both the Incoming and Outgoing User Name, and click Next.
- Type the name you want for your account (i.e. NetZero Mail), then click Next.
- Confirm the information is correct, and click Finish to create your account.
- Select Outgoing Server beneath your newly created account, and type: smtp.netzero.com as your outgoing server and type 465 for the Port.
- Check the boxes for Use Secure Connection (SSL) and Use Secure Authentication.
- Select Username and Password and type in your NetZero email address. Thunderbird will ask for your password the first time you use your account. Click OK to finish.
- Start MacMail, click Mail and select Preferences.
- Click Accounts then click on Add Account.
- Select POP from the choices in Account Type.
- Type your full NetZero email address box.
- Type in your name in the Full Name box.
- Type: pop.netzero.com in the Incoming Mail Server box and type 995 for the Port.
- Type your full email address in the User Name box.
- Type your password in the Password box.
- Click the Outgoing Mail Server menu and select Add Server.
- Type: smtp.netzero.com for the Outgoing Mail Server and type 465 for the Port.
- Check the option to Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
- Check the box next to Requires authentication, then click Next to finish.
- Click OK then OK again.
- Close the Accounts window to finish.
